Richard Freer, Cathy Hall, Patrick Stewart and Melodie Philhours

Faculty Achievement Awards presented
at 29th annual Convocation of Scholars Ceremony


During the annual Faculty Honors Convocation this afternoon in Fowler Center,
Dr. Richard K. Freer, Ms. Cathy Hall and Dr. Patrick A. Stewart were named recipients of the 2006-07 Board of Trustees Faculty Achievement Awards.

Freer, associate professor of social work in the College of Nursing and Health Professions, received the Faculty Award for Professional Service.

Hall, assistant professor of nursing in the College of Nursing and Health Professions, received the Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching.

Stewart, associate professor of public administration and director of the MPA program in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, received the Faculty Award for Scholarship.

Also, Dr. Melodie Philhours, assistant professor of marketing in the College of Business, was named recipient of the
Outstanding Faculty Academic Advisor Award, given by the Wilson Center for Academic Advising and Learning Assistance.

Retiring faculty members recognized at faculty event

Six faculty members who are retiring this academic year were recognized today during the annual Faculty Honors Convocation. Their total years of service to ASU and its students totaled 166 years. Those recognized were Dr. Cindy Albright, Dr. William Crumpton, Dr. George Grant, Dr. James Greenwald, Dr. Jerry Linnstaedter and Dr. Dennis White.
Five of the six have taught at ASU for 10 years or more, and therefore were named to emeritus status in recognition of their longtime service and contributions. See details on the NewsPage.
