29th annual Convocation of Scholars
ceremonies will begin with Student Honors

April 3, 2007 -- The 29th annual Convocation of Scholars activities at Arkansas State University will get underway next week with a series of honors and awards ceremonies.

Major events will include the Student Honors Awards Ceremony, where the R. E. Lee Wilson Award and most outstanding graduates of the university will be announced, and the Faculty Honors Convocation, where the faculty achievement awards will be presented and retiring faculty will be recognized.

The Student Honors Awards Ceremony begins at 3 p.m. Monday, April 9, in the Student Union Auditorium. The public is welcome.

The Faculty Honors Convocation begins at 1 p.m. Tuesday with a reception in honor of the retirees in the Grand Hall of Fowler Center. The recognitions and awards ceremony follows at 1:30. The reception and ceremony are open to the public.

The various college-level honors banquets or ceremonies are scheduled as follows: Business, and Nursing and Health Professions, Monday evening; Humanities and Social Sciences, Tuesday evening; Engineering, Wednesday afternoon; Communications, Wednesday evening; Agriculture, Thursday evening; and Fine Arts, and Sciences and Mathematics, Friday at noon.

Departmental awards also will be presented at a banquet conducted by the Department of Health, Physical Education, and Sports Sciences Tuesday evening.
