Homecoming
festivities
This Saturday, Sept. 13,
alumni are welcomed back to the
campus for Homecoming 2003 as ASU
plays host to Southeast Missouri State. Three ASU Distinguished Alumni Awards
will be presented during the halftime ceremony. For details, read about
the honorees in a NewsPage
article. The
Homecoming schedule is on the Alumni web site.
"Family
of the Year" named
ASU alumni, Margo and Mark AufderHeide of DeWitt, and their
children were recognized at Saturday’s football game as the “2003
Family of the Year.” Two of their three children, Matthew AufderHeide
and Katherine AufderHeide, are attending ASU. Margo and Mark are members of the
Alumni Association, the Indian Club and the Wilson Fellows Fellowship
Fund. Margo is a former Wilson Award Winner, and served on
the Wilson Award selection committee this year.
"First Friday" from Dr. Wyatt
President Les Wyatt has started a series of monthly reports to the
campus community entitled, “First
Friday.” It is available on the web site at:
http://asunews.astate.edu/firstfriday.htm.
This month’s report focuses on the strategic planning process, and
includes a link to the Higher Learning Commission report with the institutional responses inserted. Everyone
at ASU should have received an e-mail about this last week.
Yearbook
Photos
Yearbook pictures are
being made today through Thursday, Sept. 8 - 11, from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. on
the bottom floor of the library (at the bottom of the stairs).
All students, faculty and staff are encouraged to stop by, especially
faculty members who have not had a photo made in the last two years.
Child Art Studio shares these photos with the Public Relations and
Communications office for other uses, as well. Please bring ID with you!
Lecture~Concert Series announced for
2003-04
The Lecture~Concert Series
features a line-up of eight presentations
for the new season. Brochures will be distributed through campus
interdepartmental mail. All of the programs begin at 7:30 p.m., and
admission is free. Classical guitarist Lily Afshar will open the season
with a performance on Monday, Oct. 6, in the recital hall of the Fine
Arts Center. A NewsPage

Fowler
Center performances & concerts
The Fowler Center has announced the 2003-04 season with eight
performances, beginning on Saturday, Sept. 27, with Maynard Ferguson and
his Big Bop Nouveau Band. All shows and concerts begin at 7:30 p.m.

ASU-Searcy
ASU-Searcy
(the former Foothills Technical Institute) merged in July with the
ASU-Beebe campus, becoming the newest member of the ASU system. The Mayor of
Searcy has declared the week of Sept. 22-26 as ASU-Searcy week. A
celebration is planned for Monday, Sept. 22.
Water
Aerobics
Water aerobics for faculty and staff has started at the HPESS
complex. Participants meet every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from noon -12:40
p.m., in the pool.
