Reynolds Center for Health Sciences
Arkansas State University
in Jonesboro has received the largest single donation in its history, a
charitable gift of $14,508,342 from the Donald W.
Reynolds Foundation, to construct a three-story health sciences
building immediately north of the Chickasaw Building.
The Donald W. Reynolds Center for Health Sciences is designed as a 50,650
square foot structure that will house the Speech and Hearing Clinic,
nursing and nurse anesthesia skills laboratories, large and small
classrooms, computer lab, dedicated research spaces and special project
rooms.
The gift includes more than $1 million in furnishings and major
equipment costs.

Chickasaw Building renovations
Project provides for modification of the Chickasaw Building to meet the
program needs of the College of Nursing and Health Professions. It also
will house occupants of the Eugene W. Smith Center for Excellence in
Education and Regional Programs. The project provides for the
construction of classrooms, seminar rooms, and academic support spaces.

Cooper Alumni Center
Project entails construction of a 20,000-square foot
facility, the Cooper Alumni Center, for the Alumni Association and the Alumni Relations
and Development Offices. The name honors Darrell and Charlotte Pugh
Cooper, who donated $2 million toward the project. Another major
donation, from the family of the late Marlin D. Jackson, will fund the
"Marlin D. Jackson History Room." The center will provide large gathering and
meeting rooms and offices for staff. The proposed site is the location
of the original "student pavilion" on the south side of the lake
near Indian Stadium and the Convocation Center.
Cost: $5 million

Delta Center for Economic Development
A grant from the Economic
Development Administration has been received in the amount of $1.8
million for construction of the Delta Center for Economic Development.
The project will provide for the construction of a two-story,
steel-framed structure with a gross square footage of 21,344. The
facility will house the Delta Center for Economic Development, Small
Business Development Center, Centers for Entrepreneurial and Family
Business Studies, Economic Education, and Transportation Management.
Federal funding will be at the 50% level.

Student Recreation Center
Provides space for non
academic recreation and intramural activities. Proposed
construction will provide a 65,000 square-foot facility that would
include multipurpose venues for exercise, weightlifting, basketball,
indoor and outdoor swimming. An indoor walking track is planned as well
as appropriate offices and ancillary support spaces.

Honors Hall

kitchenette.

Caraway Road (Westside) Overpass
The Caraway Road Overpass project, also referred to as the Westside
Overpass, is designed with the safety of those
who travel onto the ASU campus in mind. The overpass will improve
traffic flow and eliminate conflicts with trains that pass through
campus. Environmental assessment is complete. Construction
will begin when sufficient funds become available. The Caraway Road
entrance on the south side of campus will be closed.

Humanities
and Social Sciences Building
This instructional facility will provide classrooms, offices
and support spaces for programs within the College of Humanities and
Social Sciences. Adequate funding is not yet available for construction
to begin. This new facility will replace the academic facilities now
located in Wilson Hall, ASU's oldest building. Wilson eventually will be
