Construction
activity attracts interest
Anyone who visits the
campus cannot help but notice the significant amount of construction
underway. The steel outline of the Biosciences/Biotechnology
Building on the south edge of campus is almost complete. To help answer
the most frequent questions, we have uploaded new information to the
online Construction
Update to provide capsule information about major projects.
We also added a link in the column at left.
Summer Children's
Theatre
The ASU Theatre has announced the schedule for Summer Children's
Theatre. This is a great opportunity for those seeking summer
entertainment for their youngsters. This 8th annual presentation will
feature two plays based on popular tales of Beatrix Potter and Brothers
Grimm. Opening the season will be "Peter Rabbit and Me"
by Aurand Harris, Tuesday through Thursday, June 17-19, at 10 a.m. and
Friday, June 20, at 10 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. The second production of
the season, "The Brave Little Tailor," an enchanting version
of the Grimm fairy tale, will be performed Tuesday through Thursday,
July 22-24, at 10 a.m. and Friday, July 25, at 10 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Children's
Theatre performances are presented at Fowler Center. Tickets may be
purchased at the ASU Central Box Office in the Convocation Center for
$3.50, by calling 972-ASU1, or online at tickets.astate.edu, or at the
door on the day of the performance.
Board of
Trustees meeting will be Friday
The
ASU Board of Trustees will meet by telephone conference call Friday,
June 6, at 10 a.m. Interested individuals may monitor the call at
the President's Office conference room in the Administration
Building. Adoption of the ASU operating budget for 2003-04 is the
main agenda item.
Alumni chapters are
branching out
The ASU Alumni Association is now extending its reach further than ever
before through alumni chapters. In addition to special interest
chapters, such as Strong-Turner and Wilson Fellows, associate members
may participate in these chapters which are organized geographically:
Bootheel of Missouri, North Texas, Central Arkansas, Craighead County,
Grand Prairie, Greater Memphis, Greene County, Northcentral Arkansas,
Northwest Arkansas, and Twin Lakes. Chapters are getting
organized in Garland County and St. Francis County, and a kick-off
event is being planned for the Houston area next spring. The
Colleges of Business and Communications have chapters, and Engineering
is getting one organized.
New services for BlueAdvantage
subscribers
In case you missed the e-mail
last week, you might want to know about "My Blueprint," which
is offered to all employees with health coverage administered by
BlueAdvantage (formerly USAble). My Blueprint is an online,
self-service center that allows subscribers to access information about
the status of claims, claims history, primary care physician history,
benefits and services available, provider directories, replacement ID
card requests, and new services to be added. To access this service,
register at www.BlueAdvantageArkansas.com
and receive your password by U.S. mail in five to seven business
days. Call your HR Rep at 972-3454 if you would like to know
more.
Ideas and material are welcome
We haven't asked in some time,
but we want to remind the campus community that Inside ASU
is for all faculty and staff. If you have ideas or materials to
submit, send them along to Tom Moore, tmoore@astate.edu.
