Bonds approved; alumnus Beebe is elected
governor
With 93 percent of the election
precincts reported, it appears that Arkansas voters have approved
the College Savings Bond program for capital improvement projects.
Also, congratulations are in order to Attorney General Mike Beebe, a
1968 graduate of ASU, who was elected governor. He is believed to be
the first ASU graduate elected to the state's highest office.
Race, gender and media class to host panel discussion
The "Race, Gender and Media" class in the College of Communications
will host its 10th annual diversity panel Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the
ASU-TV Studio. The topic is "Many People, Many Cultures:
Diverse Perspectives from Asia." Click on

Dr.
Rick Neeley receives career award
Dr. Rick Neeley, Communication
Disorders, received the Frank R. Kleffner Clinical Career Award,
given by the Arkansas Speech-Language-Hearing Association, during
the group's state meeting in Hot Springs. The award recognizes an
individual with a distinguished career in speech pathology or
audiology. Neeley has taught at ASU since 1987.
Discover Diversity
program develops leadership skills
The Office of Admissions
will host the 9th annual Discover Diversity program Friday and
Saturday. This leadership conference will involve
approximately 50 high school students from the tri-state region.

Department of
Music sets concerts for next week
Next week will be a busy one
for the Department of Music students and their faculty directors.
The Jazz Bands, under the direction of Ron Horton, will
perform in concert Monday night; the Wind Ensemble, under the
direction of Dr. Kenneth Carroll, will perform Tuesday night;
and the Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of Craig
Collison, will perform Thursday night. All three concerts
are in Riceland Hall of Fowler Center, and admission is free.
KASU's
on-air membership drive attracts close to 300
It's not too late to renew, or initiate, a membership in KASU, the
public broadcasting service of ASU. During the recent on-air
membership drive, close to 300 members responded by donating more
than $26,000 to assist the station with continuing the finest in
public radio programming. For details on membership, contact Todd
Rutledge, development specialist for KASU, at ext. 2200.
Christmas arts and
crafts show is this weekend
Reminder: The Indian Club's "Lit'l Bita
Christmas" arts and craft show is this weekend, Nov. 10-12, at the
Convocation Center. Proceeds will support scholarships for
student athletes.
