Power of Hope Celebration is Tuesday
On Tuesday, Sept. 26, the College of Nursing and Health Professions will host the Power of Hope Celebration in coordination with several local organizations and churches in Jonesboro that are planning similar events. ASU's Power of Hope Celebration will start at 2 p.m. in the Student Union Auditorium. Everyone is encouraged to attend!

, Nursing, and Troy Vincent, Counseling, will be featured speakers, and the Department of Music will provide music. The event is celebratory, as each of the speakers has overcome life's obstacles and benefited from the "power of hope." Dr. Elgelid delivers therapy on 'the road'
Dr. Staffan ElgelidDr. Staffan Elgelid, Physical Therapy, participated in a unusual professional development experience this past summer.  Elgelid was personal physical therapist for rock musician Beck during a European tour.  Elgelid is a practitioner of feldenkrais, an approach to changing one's movements and habits to reduce pain. BEST robotics competition pits high school teams
The Department of Computer Science is hosting the BEST (Boosting Engineering, Science and Technology) Robotics Competition this year.  Eight area high school teams have begun the six-week competition with an introduction to this year's problem...to build a robot that will both hang "laundry" and retrieve laundry from clothes lines constructed on a playing field. Human Resources Benefits Fair will be Oct. 17
Mark your calendar to "get your ducks in a row" at the Humans Resources Benefits Fair on Tuesday, Oct. 17.  For anyone not familiar with the format, this is a great time for all faculty and staff to visit with representatives from benefit providers and to win some great door prizes!  Watch for details in campus mail.

Faculty-Staff Choir rehearsals
Reminder: The Faculty-Staff Choir will begin its fall rehearsals today (Sept. 25) at 12 noon in the Fine Arts Center, Room 119.  Sandy Seay, Music, invites everyone who enjoys singing to participate!  The choir meets each Monday at noon for a one-hour (or less) rehearsal on popular and seasonal music. Fall 2006 Job Fair & Graduate School Expo
Remind your students: Career Services will host the 2006 Job Fair & Graduate School Expo on Wednesday, Sept. 27, at the Convocation Center from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. More than 110 employers and schools (recruiting from all majors) will be at the fair/expo.
