Fenner presents at preparedness conference
Starr Fenner, Environmental Health and Safety, recently gave a presentation on Hazardous Infrastructure at the Emergency Preparedness Liaison Officers (EPLO) Conference in Memphis. Emergency Preparedness Liaison Officers provide military support to civil authorities and are responsible for coordinating military assistance/response to other federal agencies and state governments under an all-hazards disaster environment, including, but not limited to, hurricanes, tornados, earthquakes, and counter-terrorism. EPLO teams are located in the ten Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) regions and at the National Guard state area command posts. Arkansas' regional team (Region VI) is located in Denton, Texas, at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Regional Response Coordination Center (RRCC). FEMA Region VI includes Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. Emergency Preparedness Liaison Officer positions may be filled by reservists, full-time civilians, or active-duty military personnel, whether Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or U.S. Coast Guard. Fenner holds the Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) credential.
