The
Boys from Syracuse
opens this weekend
The ASU
Theatre is proud to announce the opening of the musical, The Boys
from Syracuse, at Fowler Center on Friday and Saturday, April 7
and 8, Tuesday and Wednesday, April 11, and 12, at 7:30 p.m. and on
Sunday, April 9, at 2 p.m. A “meet the company” dessert reception
will follow the April 7 opening night performance. Tickets may be
purchased (reserved seating, in advance) at the ASU Central Box
Office or by calling 972-ASU1 or
online. Reserved seating
tickets (if available) may be purchased at the door on the evening
of the performance. Ticket prices are $10 in advance and $12 at the

Convocation of Scholars begins
April 5
Convocation of Scholars
begins on Wednesday, April 5, and continues through Friday, April
14. The Student Honors Ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday,
April 10, in the Student Union Auditorium. During the ceremony, the
2006 R.E. Lee Wilson Award will be given to ASU's most distinguished
graduate. In addition, Distinguished Service Award winners and President's Scholars will be honored. For more details,

College of Business to host Teaching Conference
The College of Business will host the 2nd annual Teaching
Conference, Improving Teaching & Learning: Advances in Higher
Education on Thursday, April 6, in the Student Union. Six
different sessions are offered; registration is required. For more

ASU-Heber Springs to hold groundbreaking
Arkansas State University-Heber Springs will hold a groundbreaking
ceremony for the new campus at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, April 7, at
Sugarloaf Mountain, off Highway 110 East. ASU-Heber Springs, which
until recently has been operating without base state funding, has
received $1.1 million in General Improvement money to begin
construction on the campus. The new ASU-Heber Springs campus will
consist of a Science and Technology Building and an Administration
and Student Service Building. The target completion date for the ASU-Heber
Springs campus is July 15. The public is invited to attend the
groundbreaking ceremony.
Indian
Club to host barbecue for Memphis in May
The Indian Club is hosting a barbecue this
fall, as a qualifying round for the Memphis in May World
Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest. The barbeque will be held in
conjunction with the Indians’ football home game with Middle
Tennessee on Nov. 10-11. The winner of the event will have the entry
fee paid to enter the World Championship in Memphis. Also, winners
will receive awards during the football game. The contest is called
the Jazz in Jonesboro MidSouth Barbecue Championship. The qualifying
round, which draws serious grillers from all over the country, will
be held at Indian Stadium on Friday and continue through Saturday
