ASU Orchestra in concert
April 4 in Riceland Hall

March 24, 2006 -- The Department of Music at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro will present the ASU Orchestra in concert on Tuesday, April 4, at 7:30 p.m. in Riceland Hall of Fowler Center, 201 Olympic Drive.

The ASU Orchestra is conducted by Dr. Neale Bartee. Musical selections for this concert will include “Introduction to Act III from Lohengrin” by Richard Wagner; “Wachet auf ruft uns die Stimme (Choral Prelude)” by J.S. Bach; three pieces from “Schindler’s List”, including “Theme from Schindler’s List,” “Jewish Town,” and “Remembrances,” by John Williams with violin soloist Kate Ryan; “Hungarian Dance No. 5” by Johannes Brahms; “Overture to Fidelio, Op. 72” by Ludwig van Beethoven; “Our Town” (music from the film score) by Aaron Copland; and “Marche Slave, Op. 31” by Peter Tchaikovsky.

Members of the ASU Orchestra include Kate Ryan of Memphis, Tenn., Garrett Overcash of Brinkley, Bill Keisker and Jane Anfinson, both of Jonesboro, Roby Johnson of East Prairie, Mo., Cecily Kennemore of Paragould, first violin; Ann Swaty, Ellen Burns, Jennifer Hutchison, Friedric Tarkington, and Sebastian Tarkington, all of Jonesboro, Audra Edgin of Leachville, William Overcash of Brinkley, second violin.
Other members are Paul Markowski and Marcia Burns, both of Jonesboro, Chris Overcash of Brinkley, viola; Meghan Matthews and Elaine Bartee, both of Jonesboro, cello; John Hays and Kevin Cremeens, both of Jonesboro, bass; Melinda Watts of Nixa, Mo., A.J. Wetton of Van Buren, Mo., Caitllin Sammons of Bald Knob, Alexandra McDaniel of Marion, flute/piccolo; Emily Quinn of Bradley, Ill., and Amy Dunivan of Jonesboro, oboe/English horn; Mylie Brown of Walnut Ridge, Tony Saylors and Kristina Brewer, both of Pocahontas, Amanda Riley of Corning, clarinet; Sheena Gibson of Piggott, bass clarinet.

Additional members include Bryan Eckert and Carissa Porter, both of Jonesboro, bassoon; Jeremy Wortham of Paragould, Tim Hendrix, Laura Thompson, and Philip Pruett, all of Jonesboro, Rachel Smith of Benton, horn; Jonathan Monroe and Grant Harbison, both of Jonesboro, Jon Stevenson of North Little Rock, Ben Light of West Ridge, trumpet; Seth Weston of Jonesboro, Casey Murphy of Pocahontas, Daniel Harrelson of Warren, trombone; Ryan Riley of El Dorado, tuba; Chris Knight and Cameron Walton, both of North Little Rock, Jason Holder of Newport, and Iggy Ferguson of Newark, timpani/percussion.
