December issue of "Arkansas Review"
available
The Department of English and
Philosophy at ASU announces the publication of
the December issue of Arkansas Review: A Journal of Delta Studies.
Edited by a committee of faculty and graduate assistants, the
magazine offers an interdisciplinary approach to the seven-state
Mississippi River Delta region through academic articles,
interviews, fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, visual art and reviews. Members of the ASU community who
contributed to this issue of the journal are book reviewers Brady
Banta, Cherisse Jones-Branch, Derek Allen Clements,
William
Clements, Gregory Hansen and Michael P. Spikes. For details,

New director of development selected
Christy Valentine has been
selected as ASU's new director of development in the Office of
University Advancement. Valentine holds both a bachelor's degree and
a master's degree from the College of Business, and she has served the
College of Business as an instructor since 2001. She brings a wealth
of corporate, consulting, and management experience, as
well as university, civic, and community service, to the position.
Steve Owens, vice president for university advancement, said, "We
are very excited to have Christy Valentine join the Advancement team
as director of development. Her corporate experience, coupled with
her academic credentials, make her a wonderful fit for the
position."
Staff Senate
to host reception for Chancellor Potts
On Wednesday, Jan. 17, the ASU Staff
Senate will host a staff reception for Dr. Robert L. Potts, new
chancellor for ASU-Jonesboro. The drop-in reception, from 1:15-2 p.m. on the 8th floor of the Dean B. Ellis Library, provides an opportunity for all ASU staff to meet Dr. Potts.
Refreshments will be served. The ASU Staff Senate will meet in the
library board room at 2, immediately following the reception.
Chancellor Potts will address the senate.
Nomination
form online for awards
The nomination/application
form for the 2007 R. E. Lee Wilson Citizenship Award and the
Distinguished Service Awards are available online at

to download the form is near the bottom of the page. The deadline to
submit nomination/application packets is Friday, Feb. 16, at 5
p.m. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered. Packets
should be submitted to Jill Bristow, University Advancement, Room

Celebration honors Dr. Martin
Luther King Jr.
Reminder: ASU's Student Activities
Board, in conjunction with the ASU Office of Multicultural Affairs,
the ASU Student Government Association, and the ASU Music
Department, plans a three-day observance to celebrate the life of
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The celebration takes place Jan. 15-17,
