Construction
to begin on ABI building
The contractor for the Biosciences/Biotechnology Building, a component
of the Arkansas Biosciences Institute, has been given the "notice
to proceed" with construction. The previously announced
closing of the south portion of Caraway Road will take effect on or
soon after Monday, Dec. 16.
DHE director to be guest at UPC
meeting
Dr. Linda Beene, newly appointed director of the Department of Higher
Education, will visit the ASU campus Wednesday. While here, she
will be a special guest at the University Planning Committee (UPC)
meeting Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the Board Room of the Library. The
meeting is open to everyone.
TIAA-CREF representatives on
campus
If you participate in TIAA-CREF, you should have received mail notifying
you that representatives will be on campus Tuesday and Wednesday.
One-on-one counseling is available Tuesday and Wednesday. They
will conduct one-hour seminars Wednesday in Room 170 of the Library --
"Adjusting your Asset Allocation" starts at 9 a.m. and
"Pre-Retirement Seminar" starts at 3 p.m. To register
for the counseling, visit TIAA-CREF
or call Antoinette Evans at 800-842-2006.
'Santa's Workshop' will be
Thursday, Dec. 12
Reminder . . . everyone is invited to "Santa's Workshop" and
open house in the
Administration Building lobby on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2-4 p.m. See
a web notice repeated from e-mail if you need more details.
Also, Santa's Tribe is still looking for family sponsors, cash
donations, and other forms of assistance for needy ASU families.

Board of Trustees meeting Friday
The ASU Board of Trustees will conduct its quarterly meeting Friday at
9 a.m. in the Board Room of the library.
Commencement is
Friday night
The fall
commencement ceremony will be Friday evening beginning at 7 p.m. in the
Convocation Center. Several changes will be incorporated into
this ceremony to enhance the dignity and efficiency of the event.
As of today, there are 582 candidates for undergraduate degrees and 131
candidates for graduate degrees.
What's special
about ASU?
To gather ideas for a new
brochure and web page, we recently sent e-mail to all faculty and staff
asking, "What's special about ASU?" Response has been
terrific, but we're still collecting data. If you haven't
responded and intended to, send a note to asunews@astate.edu.
Last edition of
'Inside ASU' this
semester
This is the last edition of "Inside ASU" this semester,
despite what we said last week. We plan to resume publication Monday, Jan. 6.
