Bailey and Creibaum present in South
Carolina
Jeff Bailey, assistant library director, and Linda Creibaum,
acquisitions
librarian,
recently presented "Developing a Library
Collection Development Allocation Formula" at the Charleston
Conference in Charleston, South Carolina. The presentation concerned
the weighted formula used at the Dean B. Ellis Library to allocate
funds for library resources to academic departments. The
formula is based on a variety of factors, including the number of
degrees awarded, departmental credit hour production, graduate
programs, and the average costs of books and journals in each
discipline. The Charleston Conference is an annual gathering of
librarians, publishers, electronic resource managers, consultants,
and vendors of library materials from several continents to discuss
issues of importance to them all.
