Today is Preview Day at ASU
Many decisions could be made
today as high school students visit the campus for Preview Day.

Nov. 6-10
National
Non-Traditional Week recognizes non-traditional students in higher
education and also highlights university efforts to improve the
adult student environments on our campus. The week’s events focus on
motivation, relaxation and coping strategies. Click on

Dr. Amy Pearce
presents at national conference
Dr. Amy
Pearce,
Psychology & Counseling, gave two presentations at the
annual Society for Neuroscience conference in Atlanta.
Dr. Pearce’s presentations were "Environmental
Influences on Consumption of Oral Nicotine by Female Sprague-Dawley
Rats" and "Brain Awareness Days Involve Everyone: Insights from
Volunteers and Community Members of Jonesboro, Ark."
Undergraduate psychology major Lisa Smith also delivered a
presentation at the Faculty for Undergraduate Neuroscience
poster session, "The Impact of Voluntary Oral Nicotine on
Operant Responding for Food." The research was conducted in
collaboration with Dr. Kris Biondolillo, Psychology &
Counseling, and other student researchers in the Arkansas
Biosciences Institute.
Dr. Staffan Elgelid and Dr.
Sue McLarry collaborate
Dr. Staffan Elgelid,
Physical Therapy, delivered a presentation, “Healthy Ager Project:
An Interprofessional
Geriatric Educational Experience” at the
annual conference of the Association of Schools of Allied Health
Professions in Chicago. The presentation
was the result of cooperation between the nursing and physical
therapy programs at ASU. Dr. Sue McLarry, Nursing, organized the results
from the nursing aspect of the project and wrote the nursing part of
the final presentation.
Arkansas Delta Byways cites
tourism achievements
At the 7th annual Arkansas
Delta Byways tourism achievement awards banquet, winners in the 10
competitive categories were announced. In addition, Paula
Miles, Delta Heritage Initiatives, was surprised with a
distinguished service award. Click on

Arkansas Delta Byways, housed at ASU, is the official tourism
promotion association for 15 counties in Eastern Arkansas.
Appearance
by Dr. Gates is postponed
Henry Louis Gates, head of the African American Studies Program at
Harvard, has postponed his Nov. 10 Lecture-Concert Series appearance
for medical reasons. A new date will be announced.
