Dr. Hunt wins research award
Dr. C. Shane Hunt, Marketing,
recently accepted an award from the American Marketing Association for his dissertation, "The Influence of Sales ManagemeDr. C. Shane Huntnt Control Systems on Salesperson Perceptions of the Organization," at the AMA conference in San Diego, Cal. Dr. Hunt’s research was recognized as being the one of the two best dissertations focusing on sales and marketing for the previous two-year period. Dr. Hunt was one of four research award winners, competing with faculty from the University of North Carolina, Washington State, and Case Western Reserve University. The American Marketing Association Conference is the premier international gathering of academics and practitioners dedicated to the field of marketing.

Department of Languages to hold open house
ASU's Department of Languages will hold an open house on Monday-Tuesday, August 25 and 26, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the main lobby of Wilson Hall. New chair Dr. Yvonne Unnold welcomes the ASU community to come and learn about the department's programs and meet the department's faculty. The open house is also a last-minute opportunity to sign up for language courses for the fall semester. For more information on classes, contact ASU’s Department of Languages, ext. 3887. Department of Social Work moves to new location
Dr. Barbara Turnage, chair, Social Work, and Dr. George A. Jacinto, director, Master of Social Work (MSW) program, announce the new location of the Department of Social Work. On Thursday, August 14, the Department of Social Work moved from the International Student Center to Suite 327 of the newly renovated Chickasaw Building on North Caraway Road. The new, well-appointed location will provide office space to accommodate both the current Social Work faculty and new faculty members who will be hired to teach in the MSW program. 


KASU's Bluegrass Monday presents the Keisler Brothers
Radio station KASU 91.9 FM presents Bluegrass Monday, featuring the Keisler Brothers, on Monday, August 25, 7-9 p.m., at Atkins Celebration Hall, 101 S. Pruett, Paragould. Admission is free, but KASU literally passes the hat to pay the musicians.
The Keisler Brothers are active in the Arkansas Bluegrass Association, and they participate in the Bluegrass in the Schools program, an effort to introduce bluegrass music to children.  More information about the group is available at www.arkansasbluegrass.com.
