Dr. Bouse interviews for vice chancellor position
Dr. Gary A. Bouse, vice president, Institutional Advancement,
Mississippi
University for Women, will be on campus Monday-Tuesday,
August 18-19, as a candidate for the position of vice chancellor,
University Advancement. Dr. Bouse will make a public presentation on
Tuesday, August 19, at 4
p.m., in the Dean B. Ellis Library boardroom, 8th floor. He will
present "The Role of the Chief Advancement Officer" as part of the

Department of Languages welcomes new
chair
Dr.
Yvonne Unnold, German and Spanish, will serve as the new chair
of ASU's Department of Languages in the College of Humanities and
Social Sciences. Dr. Unnold
moved
to Jonesboro from Hamburg, Germany. She has taught Spanish, German,
and English as a Second Language (ESL) in Costa Rica, Mexico, the
U.S., and Germany.
Dr. Unnold has published
on instructional technology and second language acquisition, as well
as on Latin American and German literary and cultural discourse. Dr.
Unnold earned an Ed.S. in Higher Education Leadership and
Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi,
Hattiesburg. She earned her M.A. and Ph.D. in Comparative Literature
(emphasis in Latin American and German literature) from the
University of Washington, and did additional graduate studies in the
Universidad de Costa Rica's Latin American Literature program. She
obtained a B.A. in Comparative Literature from the University of
California, Davis. Dr. Unnold was born and raised in Germany.
Tonymon appointed to Yellow
Ribbon Task Force
Susan Tonymon, program
director for the Beck PRIDE Center for America's Wounded Veterans at
Arkansas State University, has been selected by Arkansas Governor Mike
Beebe as part of the Arkansas Yellow Ribbon Task Force. Tonymon is one
of 20 task force members.
The task force focuses on issues faced by returning veterans
from overseas deployment as well as senior veterans with increasing
health needs. The purpose of the task force is to create a set of
guidelines to aid Arkansas military of any branch in
receiving necessary support, benefit, protection and opportunity. The first meeting of the task force was held July 29 at the Arkansas
State Capitol Building in Little Rock. Tonymon, who was chosen to serve
on Healthcare/Disabilities, Public/Private Partnerships, and Community
Resources committees, delivered a 15-minute PowerPoint presentation about the PRIDE Center. For details, see the
