Retirement reception for Irene Martz
Irene
Martz, Academic Affairs,
will be retiring this month after 48 years of
dedicated service to ASU.
A dessert reception will be held in her honor at 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, in the
Grand Hall of Fowler Center . All faculty and staff are invited.
Comments will begin at 3:15 p.m.
Federal Reserve Bank to present workshop
This Thursday, July 7, at the Convocation Center the Federal Reserve Bank of St.
Louis will be on campus conducting a workshop, "Economies in Transition." The
workshop is a collaboration between ASU and the Federal Reserve of St. Louis,
Memphis Branch. Dr. Larry Dale, Economics, has coordinated the event, which will
begin at 8 a.m. and will conclude by 3:30 p.m. The workshop is geared for
secondary education teachers in grades 5 - 12 and will provide 3 hours of
technology credit.
National Humanities grant to ASU, largest in country
The National Endowment for the Humanities
has announced that 10 cultural institutions have
been approved to received
NEH Challenge Grants. The largest grant, for up
to $1 million, was awarded to ASU to support restoration work of two historic
sites . . . the 1858 Lakeport Plantation, near Lake Village, and the Mitchell-East
Building in Tyronza. Under the grant program requirements, the grant must
be matched 3-to-1. For more information,

ASU Pottery Club to have Summer Sale
The ASU Pottery Club
will host its annual summer sale Thursday, July 14, through Saturday, July 16,
at The Edge Coffee House, 1900 Aggie Rd. Hours are 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on
Thursday and Friday and 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday.
Today is the first day of the 2nd
summer term
The
first day of classes for Session II of the summer term begins today, and will continue through Tuesday, Aug. 2.
Summer Commencement will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 5, at the Convocation Center.
Because yesterday was the 4th of July holiday and all ASU offices were
closed, Inside ASU is published today.
