Hogue completes collegiate
management institute
Billy Hogue,
Finance and Administration, recently completed the Collegiate
Management Institute (CMI) conducted by the
Central Association of College
and University Business Officers (CACUBO). The institute focuses
on financial, budgetary and business-related topics with emphasis
placed on personal awareness, personal development, and personal
creation of effective leadership skills. During the program,
participants engage in hands-on experiences that offer practical
approaches to campus operations and leadership activities.
Participants can also discuss work-related problems and solutions
with colleagues in colleges and universities across the country.
Dr. McGregor selected for conference
participation
Dr. Loretta Neal McGregor, chair, Psychology and Counseling,
has been selected
to participate in the National Conference on Undergraduate Education
in Psychology. The conference is sponsored by the
Board of Educational
Affairs (BEA), a division of the American Psychological Association (APA).
The BEA steering
committee selected 56 participants from more than 200 applicants.
The conference will examine critical issues in undergraduate
education and recommend ways to enhance instruction based on changes
in the discipline, student and workforce needs, new and emerging
technologies, and the realities of contemporary academic life.
Participants will contribute to the production of a book outlining
conference outcomes. The conference takes place Sunday-Friday, June
22-27, at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Wa.
Dr. Romero publishes nine marine
encyclopedia chapters
Dr. Aldemaro Romero, chair, Biology, recently published nine
chapters in the Encyclopedia of Tourism and Recreation in Marine
Environments, edited by Michael Lück and published by CABI
publications of England. Dr. Romero's chapters deal with issues of
oceanography, marine biology, and the history of marine exploration.
All the chapters were co-authored with former ASU graduate student
Shelly Kannada. The chapters review different aspects of the marine
environment in the Caribbean where Romero has worked for many years.
