Dr. Moeeni to deliver
keynote speech
Dr. Farhad Moeeni, Computer Information Technology, will be
one of the keynote speakers at the 4th International Conference on
“Electronic Commerce with a
Focus on Developing Countries.” The conference will be held in
Penang, Malaysia, Nov. 3-4 of this year. The theme of the conference
is various aspects of the Internet-based information and transaction
systems, including e-commerce, e-government, e-supply chain, and
e-business. The participants are primarily researchers from academia
and some industries worldwide. The focus of Moeeni’s speech will be
automatic identification technologies, especially radio-frequency
identification (RFID).
'Hairspray' comes to the Convocation Center
The wildly popular and mildly subversive Broadway musical
"Hairspray" comes to the ASU Convocation Center Saturday, March 7, at
7:30 p.m. Tickets are now on sale, and ticket prices are $55, $45,
$38, and $29, plus applicable service fees. Tickets are available at
the Central Box Office located in the lower red entrance of the

The
Miracles of Baddour Center to perform with ASU choir
The ASU Department of Music and the Office of Disability Services
will present the ASU Concert Choir in a joint performance with
the Miracles Choir of Baddour Center. The concert will take place on
Tuesday, March 10, at 11 a.m. in Riceland Hall, Fowler Center. The
concert is free and open to the public. The Miracles choir consists of a group of 24
musically gifted adults with mild to moderate disabilities who live at the Baddour Center, a residential community in Senatobia,
Mississippi. The Miracles perform as part of ASU's
Disabilities Awareness Week 2009,
slated for March 10-17.

The February 2009 issue of the TechMessage is now

Inside the new issue, articles feature
Dr. Jack Zibluk, Journalism, and his use of online tools to
teach at ASU, including Facebook, Wiki, and Ning; an introduction to
inAstate, an intranet information source for faculty, staff, and
students; and an explanation of ASU's technology fee, as it applies
to infrastructure/utility and faculty access to teaching and
learning technology. The TechMessage is
a monthly publication of
Information and Technology Services at ASU.
Book sales benefit
Hemingway-Pfeiffer
ASU's Hemingway-Pfeiffer
Museum and Educational Center (HPMEC) will receive a percentage
of sales from Barnes and Noble Booksellers in-store merchandise on
Friday-Sunday, March 6-8. There is no additional cost to customers;
supporters must simply mention the
Hemingway-Pfeiffer
Book Fair at the register prior to the transaction for purchases
to count towards the Book Fair total. HPMEC staff will be in Barnes
and Noble at Jonesboro's Mall at Turtle Creek, but purchases
in any Barnes & Noble store during those dates will help to
support HPMEC. Eligible merchandise includes books, music, and
magazines. Gift cards, Barnes & Noble memberships, textbooks,
magazine subscriptions, in-store Starbucks purchases, and online
