Prospective students look at 'the move' on CD
The Office of Admissions has distributed literature about ASU to prospective students for years, but this spring the staff is adding a new medium.  They are distributing a small CD, sometimes called a "rocket disk," loaded with information about ASU.  The disk, which starts automatically when loaded into a PC, offers recruitment information through video clips, animated graphics, audio, and numerous helpful web links.  The disk was designed to coordinate with conventional printed recruitment literature, which also features "the move" as this year's theme.

Budget officers to hear presentation about HLC visit
All budget officers on the ASU-Jonesboro campus have been invited to a presentation Thursday, Jan. 30, concerning the forthcoming accreditation visit by the Higher Learning Commission team.  Those attending will be asked to share the information with employees in their respective budget unit so that everyone on campus will be better prepared for the site visit.

HLC Self-Study document available on web
If you need to access it, the HLC self-study is available on the web from the navigation buttons near the bottom of the home page or at address:

ABI research proposals
are announced
As previously reported, ASU faculty submitted several research proposals to the Arkansas Biosciences Institute.  The list of proposals selected for funding is impressive.  In order to be funded, each project had to be consistent with ABI's mission.  Congratulations to those faculty members whose projects were selected!  The faculty and their projects are listed in a NewsPage announcement.

ABI has interim director and telephone
Speaking of ABI . . . in case the campus e-mail escaped your notice, ABI has established temporary offices in the Graduate School Conference Room (first floor, Dean B. Ellis Library).  Mr. Frank Orthoefer has joined the staff as interim executive director and Kathy Hicks is accounting supervisor. You may reach this office at  910-8284 or send a fax to 910-8286.

University Planning Committee to meet Friday
The University Planning Committee (UPC) will meet Friday at 2 p.m. in the Board Room, eighth floor of the Ellis Library.  The agenda items are a Legislative update and discussion of the technology fee.

Board of Trustees to meet March 14
The Board of Trustees of Arkansas State University has oversight responsibility for all the campuses of ASU, not just the Jonesboro campus.  Therefore, the board holds meetings at various locations in the ASU system during the year.  The next meeting of the Board is scheduled for Friday, March 14, at ASU-Newport.  The Board will meet on the Jonesboro campus on May 9.
