Fourth Annual Creative Writing Day
Camp for Teens, at Hemingway center

May 9, 2006 -- Dr. Robert Lamm, Arkansas State University, and Donna James, Sloan-Hendrix High School, will lead the Fourth Annual Creative Writing Day Camp for Teens.

The camp will be held at the Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Educational Center (HPMEC), 1021 West Cherry Street, Piggott, Arkansas, Monday through Friday, June 19-23, 2006, from 8:00 a.m. to noon. The computer room will be open and available to participants from noon until 5 p.m. each day.

Both Lamm and James have long been associated with the NEA Writing Project and the Arkansas Anthology, a publication of Arkansas’ students’ writing. Deanna Dismukes, HPMEC Education Coordinator, is the program director.

Each participant will receive a spiral-bound collection of the group’s writing, produced on the property where Ernest Hemingway wrote about 100 pages of A Farewell to Arms, “A Day’s Wait” and many other short stories.

All students in the 8th through 12th grades who are interested in writing are encouraged to attend. Participants are encouraged, but not required, to bring writing with them.

Enrollment is limited to 12 students. The fee, if received by May 28, is $80, after May 28 it is $90.

For more information contact Deanna Dismukes at 870-598-3487 or email: ddismukes@centurytel.net or visit HPMEC’s website at hemingway.astate.edu.
