Department of Music
to present Jazz Band Concert

Nov. 23, 2005 -- The Department of Music at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro will present the ASU Tribe in concert on Monday, Dec. 5, at 7:30 p.m. in Riceland Hall of Fowler Center.

The ASU Tribe is directed by Ed Alexander. Musical selections for this concert will include an “Ornithology” by Charlie Parker, arranged by Holmes; “Don’t Know Why” by Jesse Harris, arranged by Murtha with guest vocalist Ashley McBryde; “Bags Groove” by Milt Jackson, arranged by Clayton; “Back Burner” by Carmine Pastore; “Fever” by J. Davenport and E. Cooley, arranged by Holmes with vocalists Ashley McBryde and Blake Howerton; “Late Night at the L.Q.” by Ladd McIntosh; and “Apple Honey” by Woody Herman.

The Tribe (click to access high res version)Personnel for the Tribe include Michael Newsom of Memphis, Tenn., and Allene Kirk of Ravenden, altos; Daniel Rickman of Jonesboro and Vic Swain of Paragould, tenors; Tim Miller of Corning, baritone; Will Hartzell of Forrest City, Luke Walker of Wynne, Vanessa Johns and Max Rand, both of Paragould, trumpets; Blake Howerton of Paragould, Corey Spencer of Wynne, Matt Strawbridge and Trevor Mitchell, both of Jonesboro, trombones; Jay Shepard of Paragould, guitar; Ben White and Curtis Farley, both of Jonesboro, drums; Tony Spurlock of Hardy, bass; Alex Anderson of Marion, vibes; and Tiffany Patton of Marion, piano.
