Department of Music presents 
"The Tribe" jazz ensemble

Oct. 12, 2005 -- The Department of Music at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro will present “The Tribe” in concert Thursday, Oct. 20, at 7:30 p.m. in Riceland Hall of Fowler Center, 201 Olympic Drive.

The Tribe is conducted by Ed Alexander. The Tribe is the premier jazz ensemble at ASU. Musical selections for this concert will include “A Few Good Men” by Gordon Goodwin, “The Bari Things You Do” by Geoff Keezer, “Cityscape” by Frank Mantooth, “Cut to the Chase” by Doug Beach, “Limehouse Blues” by Paul Clark, and “Two Seconds to Midnight” by Alan Baylock.


Personnel for the Tribe include Michael Newson of Memphis and Allene Kirk of Ravenden, alto saxophone; Daniel Rickman of Jonesboro and Vic Swain of Paragould, tenor saxophone; Tim Miller of Corning, baritone saxophone; Vanessa Johns and Max Rand, both of Paragould, Will Hartzell of Forrest City, and Luke Walker of Wynne, trumpets; Blake Howerton of Paragould, Corey Spencer of Wynne, and Matt Strawbridge and Trevor Mitchell, both of Jonesboro, trombones; Jay Shepard of Paragould, guitar; Ben White and Curtis Farley, both of Jonesboro, drums; Tonya Spurlock of Hardy, bass; Alex Anderson of Marion, vibes; and Tiffany Patton of Marion, piano.
