ASU Summer Children’s Theatre
presents ‘The Invention’

July 17, 2007 -- The 2007 Arkansas State University Summer Children’s Theatre season continues in July with “The Invention” by Brad Gromelski.  Attempts to put together a toy machine by Joyo and her friends erupt into trouble when Kalibad shows up to ruin everything. “The Invention” requires audience participation to ensure that the toy machine gets built and the toys get made, and the performance is guaranteed fun for the whole family.

Under the stage direction of Molly Simpson, professor of theatre, the cast for “The Invention” includes Stacy Olm, a theatre graduate student from North Little Rock, Whitney Elliott, a senior theatre major from Magnolia, Katy Saul, a junior theatre major from DeValls Bluff, Amanda LaRue, a junior theatre major from Heber Springs, and Morgan Henard, a sophomore theatre major from Brinkley.

The production design team includes scenic design and technical direction by Jeff McLaughlin, assistant professor of theatre, costume design by Andrew B. Posey, props design by Barbara Lassiter, a theatre graduate student from Jonesboro, and lighting design by Reanna Pearson, a junior theatre major from Alma. Amy Penny, a sophomore theatre major from Jonesboro, will serve as stage manager.

Performance dates are Wednesday, July 25, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., Thursday, July 26, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., and Friday, July 27, at 10 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. This production of “The Invention” is sponsored  by The Golden Grotto.

Scholarships for the ASU Summer Children’s Theatre company are provided by The ASU Theatre Guild, the newly formed support group for The ASU Theatre program.

All performances will be held in Fowler Center, and all seating is reserved. Tickets are $5 and should be purchased in advance at the ASU Central Box Office online or by calling 972-ASU1. If available, tickets may be purchased for $6 at the door the day of the performance. Reservations are highly recommended.
