Scholarship Endowment honors
memory of Lt. Col. Barney Smith


ENDOWMENT FOR MBA STUDENTS -- Members of the family of the late Lt. Col. Barney G. Smith have established a scholarship endowment in his memory for master of business administration (MBA) students at Arkansas State University. Those present for the announcement included (from left) Dr. Bill Roe, associate dean and director of graduate business programs; Dr. Jan Duggar, dean of the College of Business; Mrs. Hazel Smith; Sarah Smith Murry; Sam Smith; Tricia Smith; Steve Owens, vice president for university advancement; and (front) Michael and Matthew Murry. At the time of his tragic death in July, Smith was professor of military science at ASU and was near completion of his MBA degree. The university awarded the degree posthumously at the December commencement. Others who wish to help build the endowment may direct donations to the ASU Foundation, P.O. Box 1990, State University, AR 72467.
