recognizes ASU Professor

Dr. Louis Semrau, professor of special education at Arkansas State University, recently received the Technology and Media Division Leadership Award at the Council for Exceptional Children convention in Kansas City.

This is not the first time the professor has been recognized for this long-time service to his field. He received the International Council for Exceptional Children Susan Phillips Gorin Award in 1991.

During the early 1970s, he served as campus adviser at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill chapter. While in North Carolina, one member of his chapter was elected as president of the International Student Council for Exceptional Children.

Since coming to ASU, he has served as ASU chapter adviser; adviser to the Arkansas CEC Association; president and governor of the Arkansas CEC Federation; and held various committee and task force positions.

At the time of his nomination the materials developed by Semrau at ASU with a colleague from another university were being used by more than 200 universities and local schools in more than 40 states, and eight other countries.
