Six faculty members who are retiring this academic year were recognized today during the annual Faculty Honors Convocation for their longtime service to Arkansas State University.

Each of the six has taught at ASU for 10 years or more, and therefore were named to emeritus status in recognition of their contributions.

An individual tribute to each one was presented, highlighting the retiree's accomplishments and contributions to the university. Each one also received a certificate of emeritus status.

Those recognized and their lengths of service at ASU were:

-- Dr. Lew Brinkley, professor of agricultural economics in the College of Agriculture, 36 years.

-- Dr. Wilbert Gaines, associate professor of physical education in the College of Education, 33 years.

-- Mr. Perry Isbell, assistant professor of technology in the College of Engineering, 22 years.

-- Dr. John Muir, professor of agronomy in the College of Agriculture, 20 years.

-- Jennifer Rogers, instructor in radio-television in the College of Communications, 19 years.

-- Mary Jean Rutherford, associate professor of clinical lab science in the College of Nursing and Health Professions, 19 years.
