16, 2001 PepsiAmericas ‘co-brands’ can with Arkansas State University In commemoration of Arkansas State University’s milestone year, PepsiAmericas is distributing its popular Pepsi-Cola product in a specially-designed can. Pepsi cans promoting Arkansas State University and its many strengths are now being distributed throughout Northeast Arkansas. They will be on the market for about a month.  "We thought this would be an excellent way to celebrate the partnership between Pepsi and Arkansas State University," commented Stacey Null, on-premise manager for PepsiAmericas based in Jonesboro. In addition to the Pepsi logo, the can includes an ASU panel with the "@state" theme which the university is using this year in student recruiting publications. The institution which evolved into Arkansas State University held its first classes 90 years ago last fall. "We wanted to help recognize this as a milestone year for ASU," added Chris Conger, general manager of PepsiAmericas of Northeast Arkansas plants. "We thought this commemorative Pepsi can would be an excellent way to do that." Arkansas State University and PepsiAmericas entered into a soft drink contract for the Jonesboro campus in November 1998.  "We appreciate

Burton, vice president for finance and administration at ASU.The contract will have a special benefit for ASU students because it will provide a portion of the funding for construction of the student union. Construction is expected to begin in late May or early June. PepsiAmericas is the second largest independent Pepsi-Cola bottler and distributor in the United States. PepsiAmericas is the first exclusive soft drink provider on the ASU campus, offering Pepsi-Cola products, Lipton Brew Teas, Hawaiian Punch, Dole juices and other national and regional brands. Several vending machines on campus are co-branded to identify both Pepsi and Arkansas State University. |
