March 3, 2008 -- The Northeast Arkansas Regional Science Fair (NEARSF) will be held on Friday-Saturday, March 7-8, in Centennial Hall of the Student Union on the campus of Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. UPDATE: Due to inclement weather, the awards ceremony has been cancelled.  Judging was completed, and winners will receive their certificates by mail. Students should pick up their exhibits either Saturday or by 3 p.m. Sunday.

Individual students and teams (Grades 7-12) will receive recognition for outstanding science fair projects in various categories of science, math, and engineering.

The two top winners of the entire science fair and their sponsoring teachers will be eligible to compete at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Atlanta, May 11-17.

Travel, housing, and registration expenses for the two students and their sponsoring teachers attending the Intel ISEF will be paid for by the NEARSF, which is supported by the NE Arkansas Science Teachers' Association, Arkansas State University (College of Sciences and Mathematics), and private monetary donations provided by businesses, charitable organizations, and members of the northeast Arkansas community.

Students will set up their science fair projects on Friday, March 7, during the morning.
