9, 2001 Employees recognized for service and performance Arkansas State University conducted its eighth annual service recognition and performance awards program Wednesday, May 9, for classified and non-classified personnel. This program was initiated in 1994 to recognize outstanding service and performance by the university’s non-teaching employees, according to Dr. Les Wyatt, president of the university. Ten employees received Distinguished Performance Awards in their respective employment categories. Two awards were presented in two categories. The employees, their departments, and their employment categories were: -- Randall Tate, Student Union (executive/administrative) -- Doris Beeler, University Police (secretarial/clerical) -- Karen Daniels, Registrar (technical, para-professional) -- Holly Van Wagener, Development (technical, para-professional) -- Wesley Runyan, Physical Plant (service maintenance) -- Mark Wade, Physical Plant (skilled crafts) -- Lola Langley, Purchasing (professional non-faculty) -- Margaret Williams, Human Resources (professional non-faculty) -- Christel Barnes, Finance & Administration (part-time employee) -- Shirley Brock, Physical Therapy (customer service) Winners of the Distinguished Service Awards received a plaque and a $500 savings bond. The winner in the part-time employee category received a $100 savings bond. Two university employees were recognized with an engraved plaque for their long-time service to ASU as of June 30. Don Rowlett, Information and Technology Services, and Betty West, Physical Plant, were each recognized for 30 years of service. Eleven employees were recognized for 20 years of service. The employees and their departments were: Carol Caldwell, Psychology and Counseling; Rosetta Dean, Custodial Care; Mark Denny, Physical Plant; Joni Hall, Purchasing; Dorothea Hensley, Admissions; Dorothy Hicks, Custodial Care; Sharon Lee, Treasurer’s Office; Pat Spurlock, Library; Dr. J. W. Mason, Human Resources; Bobby Taylor, Physical Plant; and Jessie Washington, Physical Plant. Seventeen employees who have retired or will retire during this fiscal year were also recognized. They include Eldon Earl Anderson, Physical Plant; Bill Couch, Physical Plant; Emma Dunn, Counseling Center; George Dunn, Information and Technology Services; Betty Edgar, Purchasing; Bob George, University Police; Ruth Goodwin, Finance and Administration; Richard Ishmael, Information and Technology Services; Conye Johnson, Delta Economic Development; Dr. Keith Rogers, College of Agriculture; Arlene Smith, Grants and Contract Accounting; Maxine Smith, College of Engineering; Sam Spurlock, Controller’s Office; Jack Steingraber, Information and Technology Services; Robert L. Stephens, Residence Life; Danny Todd, Physical Plant; and Margaret Williams, Human Resources. An additional 21 employees were recognized for 10 years of service. |
