Jan Duggar, Dean, College of Business, appointed
to Governor’s Council of Economic Advisors

Gov. Mike Huckabee has appointed Dr. Jan Duggar, dean of the College of Business at Arkansas State University, to serve on the Governor’s Council of Economic Advisors.

Duggar, who joined the university staff in June of 2000, met recently for the first time with the Council, in the Governor’s Conference Room at the State Capitol in Little Rock.

The council works closely with the Department of Finance and Administration as well as the Governor’s Office on the state’s economic forecasts and economic development within Arkansas.

"I know your years of working in the field of education and now serving as dean of the College of Business at Arkansas State University will prove invaluable to the council," Huckabee said in his letter to Duggar.

Dr. David Rankin, the new president of Southern Arkansas University and current chairman of the Governor’s Council, also welcomed Duggar to the advisory group.

"We’re excited to have Dr. Duggar as a new member of the Council," Rankin said. "I believe his academic and professional experience will be a tremendous asset. We look forward to working with him."

Duggar frequently speaks to civic clubs and other groups about economic trends. His involvement on the Council will further enhance the scope of his presentations.

"I already have been impressed by the Council members’ deliberations about the state’s economic outlook," he said. "The staff of the Department of Finance and Administration has been particularly supportive with data and forecasting expertise. I am very much looking forward to continuing my participation on the Governor’s Council."
