Nov. 8, 2005 -- The Counseling Center at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro will host a seminar Thursday, Nov. 10, titled “College Drug Trends” at 7 p.m. in Riceland Hall of Fowler Center, conducted by U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency Special Agent, Keith Warzecha of the Little Rock District Office. The seminar is free and open to the public. Agent Warzecha has worked for the DEA for eight years, and was previously assigned to Washington, D.C., and Laredo, Texas, district offices. During his service Warzecha has worked on more than 300 criminal investigations. He has been qualified as an expert witness in U.S. District Court in both the operations of narcotics traffickers and the value of illicit drugs. The DEA has recently included one of his cases in its “Air, Land, and Sea” exhibit at the DEA museum. This investigation in Laredo, Austin and McAllen, Texas resulted in the seizure of 23,000 pounds of marijuana, 750 kilograms of cocaine, and $1.8 million in tangible assets. Currently Agent Warzecha investigates cases at the Little Rock District Office and conducts drug education as the demand reduction coordinator. As the demand reduction coordinator, Agent Warzecha addresses a variety of audiences, including parents and community leaders, children and youth programs, and community coalition leaders in an effort to make the public aware of current drug trends and stress the importance of a drug-free life. Prior to becoming a DEA Agent, Warzecha served as a case officer in the directorate of operations, Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) for nine years. During that tenure Warzecha worked as a volunteer paramedic and firefighter in Ashburn, Va. Warzecha is a certified instructor in narcotics and
terrorism, firefighting. He is also the former coach of the Texas A&M
