College of Business recognizes outstanding graduates, alumni

April 24, 2006 -- The most outstanding graduates of the College of Business at Arkansas State University were recently recognized at the college’s annual Convocation of Scholars honors banquet, according to Dr. Len Frey, dean.

The outstanding graduate awards were presented to the senior in each degree program who has excelled in scholarship, leadership and service to the respective departments.

Those receiving awards were: Tiffany S. Tillman of Cherry Valley, accounting; Ashley N. Alverson of Ash Flat, finance, corporate emphasis; Holly L. Ragsdell of Delaplaine, finance, real estate and insurance emphasis; David A. Edwards of Jonesboro, finance, banking emphasis; Jason T. Hignight of Lonoke, business administration; Sara M. Combs of Jonesboro, business economics; Stephanie G. Vincent of Trumann, business technology.

Justin K. Walker of Pocahontas, and Michael A. McIntire of Walnut Ridge, computer and information technology; Diana M. Gomez of Bogota, Columbia, international business; Christopher Scott Keen of Marmaduke, management; Autumn R. Tubbs of Jonesboro, management, human resources emphasis; Britney Quinton White of Forrest City, marketing, logistics emphasis; Laura Nicole Pierce of Jonesboro, marketing, management emphasis.

Sarah E. Hartsfield of Jonesboro, Master of Business Administration; Melissa A. Henson of Paragould, Master of Accountancy; Johnna S. Raper of Osceola, Master of Science in Education, Business Technology; Darina A. Semenova of Russia, Master of Science in Information Systems and eCommerce received graduate awards.

Also, Sherry Stringer of Jonesboro and Lonnie Bentley of West Lafayette, Ind., were honored as distinguished alumni of the College of Business. Stringer is a certified public accountant at Jones and Company in Jonesboro. Bentley is chairman of the Computer and Information Technology Department at Purdue University.
