Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band
to perform for Valentine's Day concert
Feb. 2, 2006 -- The Department of Music at Arkansas
State University in Jonesboro will present the Wind Ensemble and
Symphonic Band in concert on Tuesday, Feb. 14, at 7:30 p.m. in Riceland
Hall of Fowler Center, 201 Olympic Drive.
The Wind Ensemble is conducted by Ed Alexander. Musical selections for
the concert will include “Fantasia in G” by Timothy Mahr, “Lux Arumque”
by Eric Whitacre, “Dawn Reflections at Arlington” by James A. Hirt,
“Between the Two Rivers” by Philip Sparke, “Andante and Allegro” by
Charles Lefebvre, and “Armenian Dances” by Alfred Reed.
Under the direction of Dr. Ken Carroll, the Symphonic Band will perform
musical selections that include “Funa-Uta” by Yasuhide Ito, “I Am (for
Lynn Jones)” by Andrew Boysen, Jr., and “Sevens” by Samuel R. Hazo.
Members of the Wind Ensemble include Alex McDaniel of Marion, Sara
Mitchell of Sherwood, Caitlin Sammons of Bald Knob, Heather Chance of
Harrisburg, Ashley Slayton of Paragould, Melinda Watts of Nixa, Mo.,
flutes; Shayeeda Beard, Tony Saylors, and Amy Van Slyke all of Hardy,
Justin Crabb of Paragould, Amanda Riley of Corning, clarinets; Misty
Cook of Russellville, Sheena Gibson of Paragould, bass clarinets; Amy
Dunivan of Jonesboro, Emily Quinn of Bradley, Ill., oboes; Brian Eckert
of Jonesboro, bassoon; Allene Kirk of Ravenden, Daniel Coward of Wynne,
Claire Richardson of Jonesboro, alto saxophone; Katrinka Musumbi of
Jonesboro, tenor saxophone; Tim Miller of Corning, baritone saxophone;
Grant Harbison, Jonathan Monroe, and Peter Davis, of Jonesboro, Vanessa
Johns of Paragould, Kate Puckett of Wilson, trumpets; Tiffany Barker,
Tim Hendrix, and Phillip Pruett, all of Jonesboro, Kim Brown of Forrest
City, Jeremy Wortham of Paragould, French horns; Daniel Harrellson of
Warren, Blake Howerton of Jonesboro, Jason Payne of Poplar Bluff, Mo.,
Trevor Mitchell of Bono, trombones; Corey Spencer of Wynne, bass
trombone; Andrew Biggs and John Hays, both of Jonesboro, euphoniums;
Ryan Riley of El Dorado, Jay Sheppard of Paragould, tubas; Alex Anderson
of Marion, Grant Gazaway of Paragould, Jason Holder of Newport, Cheyenne
Sheppard and Katey Cravens, both of Jonesboro, Janet Haner of Trumann,
percussion.
Members of the Symphonic Band include Ashley Kriby of Cherokee Village,
Misty Prater of West Memphis, Ashley Slayton of Paragould, Danielle
Weckmann of Melbourne, Fla., A.J. Wetton of Van Buren, Mo., flutes; Shay
Beard of Cherokee Village, Kristina Brewer of Pocahontas, Morganne Brown
of Paragould, Mylie Brown of Walnut Ridge, Kristi Freeman of Poplar
Bluff, Brittney Hampton of North Little Rock, Nicole Nebeker of Trumann,
Melanie Partin of Conway, Jessica Toddy of Newport, Amy Van Slyke of
Hardy, clarinets; Misti Cook of Russellville, Terana Griffin of
Paragould, bass clarinets; Alyssa Johnson of Bryant, bassoon; Allen
Adcock of Jonesboro, Amanda Johannes of Sherwood, Jessica Lynch of

saxophones.
