Department of Music to present Wind Ensemble and Emerson Wind Ensemble

April 6, 2007 --
The Department of Music at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro will present the ASU Wind Ensemble in concert under the direction of Dr. Kenneth Carroll along with the Emerson Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Corey Emerson, graduate student. Both concerts will be held on Thursday, April 19, at 7:30 p.m. in Riceland Hall, Fowler Center.

The Wind Ensemble portion of the concert will include “Elegy for a Young American” by Ronald Lo Presti, “Monk Sketches,” first, second, and third movements by Tom O’Connor, “Symphony in B-flat,” third movement, by Paul Hindemith, “O Magnum Mysterium”  by Morten Lauridsen, and “Rush” by Samuel Hazo.

Members of the Wind Ensemble include Caitlin Sammons of Bald Knob, Melinda Watts of Nixa, Mo, Ashley Slayton of Paragould, A.J. The Emerson Wind Ensemble portion of the concert will include “Gandalf” from “The Lord of the Rings” by Johan de Meij, “October” by Eric Whitacre, and “Sevens” by Samuel R. Hazo.
