Wind Ensemble to perform April 20
in Riceland Hall of Fowler Center

April 11, 2006 -- The Department of Music at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro will present the Wind Ensemble in concert on Thursday, April 20, at 7:30 p.m. in Riceland Hall of Fowler Center, 201 Olympic Drive.

The Wind Ensemble is conducted by Ed Alexander. Musical selections for this concert will include “Metropolitan Fanfare” by Randall B. Standridge, “Dawn Reflections at Arlington” by James A. Hirt, the world premiere of “Three Junes,” by ASU composition major Tim Miller, “Hounds of Spring” by Alfred Reed, “William Byrd Suite” by Gordon Jacob, and “Irish Tune from County Derry” by Percy Grainger.

Members of the Wind Ensemble include Alex McDaniel of Marion, Sara Mitchell of Sherwood, Caitlin Sammons of Bald Knob, Heather Chance of Harrisburg, Ashley Slayton of Paragould, Melinda Watts of Nixa, Mo., flutes; Shayeeda Beard, Tony Saylors, and Amy Van Slyke all of Hardy, Justin Crabb of Paragould, Amanda Riley of Corning, Heather Pitman of Jonesboro, clarinets.

Other members are Misty Cook of Russellville, Sheena Gibson of Paragould, bass clarinets; Amy Dunivan of Jonesboro, Emily Quinn of Bradley, Ill., oboes; Brian Eckert of Jonesboro, bassoon; Allene Kirk of Ravenden, Daniel Coward of Wynne, Claire Richardson of Jonesboro, alto saxophone; Katrinka Musumbi of Jonesboro, tenor saxophone; Tim Miller of Corning, baritone saxophone; Grant Harbison, Jonathan Monroe, and Peter Davis, all of Jonesboro, Vanessa Johns of Paragould, Kate Puckett of Wilson, trumpets; Tiffany Barker, Tim Hendrix, Phillip Pruett all of Jonesboro, Kim Brown of Forrest City, Jeremy Wortham of Paragould, French horns.

Additional members are Daniel Harrelson of Warren, Blake Howerton of Jonesboro, Jason Payne of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Trevor Mitchell of Bono, trombones; Corey Spencer of Wynne, bass trombone; Andrew Biggs and John Hays, both of Jonesboro, euphoniums; Ryan Riley of El Dorado, Jay Sheppard of Paragould, tubas; Alex Anderson of Marion, Grant Gazaway of Paragould, Jason Holder of Newport, Cheyenne Sheppard and Katey Cravens, both of Jonesboro, Janet Haner of Trumann, percussion.
