Music Department presents University
Singers on April 24 in Fowler Center
April 19, 2005--The Department of Music at
Arkansas State University in Jonesboro will present the Spring Choir
Concert of the University Singers, men’s and women’s choirs and the ASU
Concert Choir on Sunday, April 24, at 3 p.m. in Riceland Hall of Fowler
Center, 201 Olympic Drive.
The University Singers are under the direction of Dr. Dale Miller,
conductor, Sherry Fagan and Carolyn Smith, graduate conducting
assistants.
The women’s choir will be performing “What Can Heavenly Love Do?” by
Denice Rippentrop; “O bone Jesu and Adoramus Te” from “Drei Geistliche
Chore” by Johannes Brahms; “Laudate Pueri Dominum” by Felix Mendelssohn;
“The Unity Song,” by Kate Bolcar; “Mueveme” by Andrea Ramsey; “When I
Fall in Love” arr. by Kirby Shaw; and “Poor Man Lazrus” arr. by Jester
Hairston.
The men’s choir will be performing “Attention, Ladies” from the “Mail
Order Madrigal” by William Schuman; “If Ye Love Me” by Thomas Tallis;
“Beati mortui” from “Zwei Geistliche Chore” by Feliz Mendelssohn; “Agnus
Dei” from “Deutsche Messe” by Franz Scchubert; “Go and Tell John” by
Llyod Pfautsch; and “With One Dream” arr. by Carole Stephens.
The ASU Concert Choir will be performing “Benedictus” by Giovanni
Gabrieli; “Peccantem me” by Cristobal de Morales; “Open My Eyes” by K.
Lee Scott; “Cantique de Jean Racine” by Gabriel Faure; “David’s
Lamentation” by Joshua Shank; and “You Must Have that True Religion”
arr. by Roland M. Cater. The choirs will combine to perform “America the
Beautiful Overlay,” arr. by Joe Liles.
Members of the University Singers and Concert Choir include: Cassie
Black of Searcy, Sherry Fagan of Tampa, Fla., Mandy Waker of White Hall,
Lilly Miller of Mayflower, Krystal Story of Stacy Dortch of Paragould,
Amy Isbell of Jonesboro, Priscilla Noyes of Dexter, Mo., Match Shiono of
Nara, Japan, Tara Skinner of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Crystal Stormes of
Goobertown, second sopranos; Ashley Armstrong of Highland, Carly Gorman
of Little Rock, Tiffanie Holland of Bryant, Brittany Howard of
Paragould, Mary Hannah Johnson, Cindy Sterling, Rachel Warnick, Megan
Mitchell, and Crystal Trujillo, all of Jonesboro, Keri Todd of Marion,
and Renee Zimmerman of Paragould, first altos.
Other members are: Erica Carter of Marion, Christy Fudge of Newark,
Carol Ann Segraves of Walnut Ridge, and Carolyn Smith of Huntsville,
Ala., second altos; Joshua Dennis of Springfield, Mo., Adam Sherwood of
Searcy, Rusty Shields of Osceola, and Bill Weaver of Little Rock, first
tenors; Derrick Moore of Forrest City, Clinton Costello of Jonesboro,
Justin Dugger of Batesville, Chris Mitchell of Trumann, Matt Vardell and
Charles Winfield, both of Jonesboro, second tenors.
Additional members are: John Easley of Bald Knob, Andrew Kjorlaug, Jon
Schug and Perry Harper, all of Paragould, Skyler Mays of Highland,
Derrick Palmer of Brinkley, Jon Stevenson of North Little Rock, Keith
Westbrook of Benton, and Daniel Harrelson of Warren, baritones; Michael
Crutchfield of Paragould, Michael Davis of Jonesboro, Edmond Hampton of
Fort Smith, Patrick Manes of Bryant, Thomas Head of Little Rock, Lance
Lewallen of Whitehall, Eric Rivera of Hoxie, and Josh Wilcoxson of
Kennett, Mo., basses.
The choir will be accompanied by Ellen Philpot, Priscilla Noyes, Tara
Skinner, and the ASU Ringers.
