Media briefing for Twin Towers demolition to be held May 20

May 15, 2008 -- There will be a briefing for the news media on Tuesday, May 20, regarding the upcoming controlled demolition of Twin Towers. The mediPerimeter of Twin Towers implosion sitea briefing will be held in the Facilities Management meeting room on the east side of the Arkansas State University-Jonesboro campus beginning at 10 a.m., to be followed by a tour of the building.

The public and all other interested persons are invited to a briefing in the Facilities Management meeting room at 3 p.m.

At both meetings, key individuals will be present to provide information and answer questions about the May 25 implosion of the 40-year-old men's residence hall. Those present will include Doug Loizeaux from Controlled Demolition, Inc., of Phoenix, Maryland; Ricky Chandler from Chandler Demolition of Memphis, and Terry Carty from ASU Facilities Management as well as representatives of the University Police Department, Jonesboro Police Department, Jonesboro Fire Department and other emergency services.

Information about the Safety Zone perimeter, the procedure for obtaining media passes and suggested viewing sites for the May 25 implosion will be provided at the briefing.

Twin Towers is currently closed due to the ongoing demolition process, but media representatives will be allowed on the premises accompanied by authorized personnel.
