ASU Theatre announces cast
for April production of ‘Twelfth Night’

March 14, 2007 -- The Arkansas State University Theatre has announced the cast of the April production of "Twelfth Night" by William Shakespeare. "Twelfth Night" is a fantastic Shakespearean twist on the old comic plot line of the madcap events surrounding the mixed-up and mistaken identities of twins, only this time Shakespeare mixes up the gender of the twins, as well. It is often considered "the greatest of Shakespeare's romantic comedies."

The ASU Theatre’s production of "Twelfth Night" is under the stage direction of John O’Connell, associate professor of theatre. Scenic and lighting design will be under the direction of Jeff McLaughlin, assistant professor of theatre. Kelly Schaefer, assistant professor of theatre, will serve as costume designer. Stage management duties for the production have been assigned to Ashlee Wiseman, a senior theatre major from Searcy.

"Twelfth Night" will be performed at Fowler Center Friday and Saturday, April 6-7, and Tuesday and Wednesday, April 10 and 11, at 7:30 p.m.

A "meet the company" dessert reception will follow the April 6 opening night performance.

The cast includes Kyle Hamsher, a senior theatre major from Jacksonville, as Duke Orsino; Aaron Beale, a freshman theatre major from Sherwood, as Curio; Jeremy Bukauskas, a sophomore theatre major from Memphis, Tenn., as Valentine; and Katie Mathis, a freshman theatre major from Corning, as Olivia.

"Twelfth Night" also features Whitney Elliott, a junior theatre major from Magnolia, as Maria; Haley Rose Grisham, a sophomore theatre major from Sherwood, as Viola; Jared Weston, a junior theatre major from Jonesboro, as Sir Toby Belch; and William Rowland, a senior theatre major from Jacksonville, as Sir Andrew Aguecheek.

Brandon Doty, senior theatre major from Jonesboro, appears as Malvolio; Ben Gibson, a sophomore theatre major from Jacksonville, as Fabian; Nicholas Sheppard, a senior music major from Doniphan, Mo., as Feste; and Ross Willett, a senior theatre major from Jonesboro, as Sebastian.

Alex Poynor, a freshman theatre major from Jonesboro, appears as Antonio; Morgan Henard, a freshman theatre major from Brinkley, as a Priest; Brian Laveck, a junior theatre major from Olive Branch, Miss., as an Officer; and Matthew Chandler, a senior theatre major from Bryant, as an Officer.

Rounding out the cast are Rachel Carroll, a freshman theatre major from Jonesboro, as a Maid; Tiffany Mitchell, a freshman theatre major from Springdale, as a Maid; Chad Bell, a sophomore business management major from Little Rock, as a Captain; and Donnie Walters, a freshman theatre major from Trumann, as a Sailor.

Reserved seating tickets (if available) may be purchased at the door on the evening of the performance. Ticket prices are $10 (or $8 in advance). Reservations are highly recommended.
