Trombone Choir and Jazz Lab to
present concert April 11 at Fowler Center

April 6, 2006 --The Department of Music at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro will present the ASU Trombone Choir and Jazz Lab in concert on Tuesday, April 11, at 7:30 p.m. in Riceland Hall of Fowler Center, 201 Olympic Drive.

The ASU Trombone Choir is conducted by Dr. Neale Bartee. Musical selections for this concert will include “The Calling” by David Moore; “O Sacred Head Now Wounded” from the Saint Matthew Passion Chorale by J.S. Bach; “Achieved is the Glorious Work” from The Creation by Franz Joseph Haydn; “Aria and Dance” by Thom Ritter George with soloist Daniel Harrelson; “Sunny” by Bobby Hebb; and “The Preacher” by Horace Silver. “Lament” by J.J. Johnson and “Well All Right!” by Peter Madsen will be performed by Dad’s Bones.

The ASU Jazz Lab is conducted by Dr. Kenneth Carroll. Musical selections for this portion of the concert will include “9 ½ Months” by David Springfield; “In A Pinch” by Maria Schneider; “Bit Of Heaven” by Curtis Fuller and Don Sickler; and “Spencer Is Here” by Bob Curnow.

Members of the ASU Trombone Choir include Tyrone Cobb of Dumas, Daniel Harrelson of Warren, Blake Howerton of Paragould, Treavor Mitchell of Westside, Eric Palmer of Bald Knob, Jason Payne of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Jeremy Ramsey of Brinkley, Corey Spence of Wynne, trombones; Jay Shepherd of Paragould, guitar; Doug Turner of Highland, bass; Katey Cravens of Paragould, drums.

Members of the ASU Jazz Lab include Allen Adcock of Westside, Claire Richardson, Katrinka Musumbi, and Adam Leslie, all of Jonesboro, Ashley Flory of Highland, Barry Goode of North Little Rock, Shirley Smith of West Memphis, saxophones; Chelsea Bills of Paragould, Angela Guarjardo of Marion, Sara DeClerk of Pocahontas, Kendra Sauheaver of Sherwood, Daniel Van Aalsburg of Highland, trumpets; Jason Payne and Ryan Barnett, both of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Jeremy Ramsey of Brinkley, Casey Murphy of Pocahontas, Daniel Harrelson of Warren, trombones; Janet Haner of Trumann, piano; Doug Turner of Highland, bass; Katey Cravens of Jonesboro, Perry Harper of Paragould, drums.
