April 13, 2005--The Department of Music at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro will present the ASU Jazz Band, known as “The Tribe,” in concert Tuesday, April 19, at 7:30 p.m. in Riceland Hall of Fowler Center, 201 Olympic Drive. The Tribe is under the direction of Ed Alexander, director of bands. Musical selections for this concert will include: “Sing, Sang, Sung” by Gordon Goodwin, “A Mis Abuelos” by Arturo Sandoval, “Afro Blue” by Mongo Santamaria, “Coconut Champagne” by Dennis DiBlasio, and “Count Bubba” by Gordon Goodwin. Members of the Jazz Band include: Jon Rohner of Bono, Mike Newsom of Memphis, Tenn., alto saxophones; Drew Breckenridge of Newport, Dadrian Clayton of Jonesboro, tenor saxophones; Tim Miller of Corning, bari saxophone; Sheri Fincher and Vanessa Johns, both of Paragould, Grant Harbison of Jonesboro, Will Hartzell of Forrest City, trumpets; Blake Howerton and Matt Strawbridge, both of Jonesboro, Lanny Heidbreder of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Corey Spencer of Wynne, trombone; Max Rand of Paragould, guitar; Corey Emerson of Poplar Bluff, bass; Perry Harper of Marion, drums; Alex Anderson of Marion, vibes.
The concert is free and open to the public.
