Tom Moore, University
Communications, accepts new appointment at ASU
March 12, 2008 --
Dr.
Robert L. Potts, Chancellor of Arkansas State University-Jonesboro,
announced today that he has appointed ASU’s longtime director of
University Communications, Thomas A. Moore, as executive assistant to
the chancellor. Moore’s new duties began Monday, March 10. Those duties
will include oversight of and assistance with correspondence, contracts,
speechwriting, and communications pertaining to various matters of
public interest at ASU. Moore will also remain a consultant to the
Office of University Relations and its director, Markham Howe.
Moore joined the staff of ASU in 1985. He earned his bachelor’s degree
in journalism from ASU in 1973, and his Master of Public Administration
degree at ASU in 1991. In addition to his 23 years of experience in
University Communications, where he worked extensively with local,
state, regional, and national media outlets and media representatives,
Moore also has a background in news writing and photography, having
worked as editor of Walnut Ridge’s The Times Dispatch and as a reporter
at The Jonesboro Sun.
Moore says, “I will miss the day-to-day contact with news media
representatives I have enjoyed over the years. Gathering and reporting
the news is a noble calling, and I have had the pleasure to work with
some really fine people who are dedicated to the craft. However, I look
forward to assisting Chancellor Potts as he pursues his goals for ASU-Jonesboro.”
Moore, his wife Darlene and son Matt live in Walnut Ridge.
