March 27, 2007 -- The Arkansas State University Museum will open “Through a Child’s Eyes XXI” on Sunday, April 1, at 1:30 p.m., with a presentation of awards in the museum lobby. A reception will follow. The artists, their families, teachers, and the public are invited to this celebration. The ASU Museum has sponsored “Through a Child’s Eyes” annually since 1987. Schools both public and private within 60 miles of Jonesboro are invited to submit 10 works of art from children age four through grade 8. If not exhibited by a school, individuals may enter artwork. This year, the exhibition contains 279 works of art entered by 30 schools in the region and 9 individuals. Each participant in the exhibition is a winner, because each school is limited to 10 entries only. Awards will be given to the twenty works of art that are chosen by a panel of three judges. Five first place, second place, third place, and honorable mention ribbons will be awarded. Of those works, the museum accession committee will select five pieces for $50 purchase awards, if the young artists made them eligible for purchase.
