Department of Music to present annual Student Honors Recital April 13

April 8, 2009 -- The Department of Music at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro will present its annual Student Honors Recital on Monday, April 13, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. in Riceland Hall, Fowler Center, 201 Olympic Drive, Jonesboro. Students are selected to perform on the recital by a panel of judges representing the music faculty.

Students performing on this year’s recital are as follows: Chaz Allen of Springdale for piano and composition, Trent Duff of Pocahontas on marimba, Bryan Eckert of Jonesboro on bassoon, Charnrit Rerngron-Asa of Bangkok, Thailand, on horn, Claire Richardson of Jonesboro on saxophone, Matthew Ryals of Imboden for guitar and composition, Hannah Sneed of Republic, Mo., on flute, Toan Tran of Vietnam for composition, Matt Watson of Walnut Ridge on euphonium, and John Yerger of Jonesboro on guitar.

Accompanists for the evening are Nickolas Alsup, Dr. Lauren Schack Clark, and Luca Strazzullo. The students will present works by Chaz Allen, Eugene Bozza, A. Desenclos, Georges Enesco, Jose Ferrer, Oscar Franz, Johann Kaspar Mentz, Sergei Prokofiev, Matthew Ryals, Mattias Schmitt, Toan Tran, and Weber.

The performance is free of charge and open to the public.
