Department of Music to
present Spring Concert Choir

March 31, 2005--The Department of Music at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro will present the Spring Concert Choir Thursday, April 7, at 7:30 p.m. in Fowler Center, Riceland Hall.

The Concert Choir is directed by  Dr. Dale Miller, director of choral activities, and two graduate conducting assistants, Sherry Fagan of Tampa, Fla., and Carolyn Smith of Huntville, Ala.

The Choir will sing selections from the 16th Century through the 21st Century by Giovanni Gabriel, Faure’ Francis Poulenc, Moses Hogan, Bermel, Eric Whitacre, and Joshua Shank. Fagan will conduct “Benedictus,” a triple choir motet by Gabrieli. This piece will be the focus of her graduate conducting recital and supporting document. Smith will conduct Faure’s “Cantique de Jean Racine,” the focus of her research.

Ellen Philpot, adjunct instructor of music, will accompany the choir on piano and organ.  The group will also be accompanied on Haydn’s “Paratum cor meum” and “Alleluja! Confitemin” Domino” by an ensemble from the ASU orchestra.

Members of the Concert Choir include: Cassie Black of Searcy, Sherry Fagan of Tampa Fla., Lilly Miller of Mayflower, Krystal Story of Camden, Jamie Thompson of Rison, and Mandy Walker of White Hall, first sopranos; Heather Chance of Harrisburg, Brioney Hellums of Mount Pleasant, Priscilla Noyes of Dexter, Mo., Match Shiono of Nara, Japan, Tara Skinner of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Crystal Stormes of Goobertown, second sopranos; Ashley Armstrong of Highland, Tiffanie Holland of Bryant, Brittany Howard of Paragould, Mary Hannah Johnson and Rachel Warnick of Jonesboro, and Renee Zimmerman of Paragould, first altos.

Other members include: Jennifer Bowles of Morriltown, Erica Carter of Marion, Christy Fudge of Newark, Carol Ann Segraves of Walnut Ridge, and Carolyn Smith of Huntsville, Ala., second altos.

Additional members are: Joshua Dennis of Springfield, Mo., Adam Sherwood of Searcy, Rusty Shields of Osceola, and Bill Weaver of Little Rock, first tenors; Justin Dugger of Batesville, Chris Mitchell of Trumann, Derrick Moore of Forrest City, Matt Vardell and Charles Winfield of Jonesboro, second tenors; John Easley of Bald Knob, Perry Harper, Andrew Kjorlaug and Jon Schug all of Paragould, Daniel Harrelson of Warren, Derrick Palmer of Brinkley, Jon Stevenson of North Little Rock, and Keith Westbrook of Benton, baritones; Michael Crutchfield of Paragould, Michael Davis and Jason Mendell, both of Jonesboro, Edmond Hampton of Fort Smith, Patrick Manes of Bryant, Eric Rivera of Hoxie, and Josh Wilcoxson of Kennett, Mo., basses.
