DETAILS:

  • The new residence hall complex will be home to 840 upper-class students.
  • Includes five three-story residential buildings, a multipurpose building with meeting rooms, offices, and laundry facilities, and parking.
  • Students will reside in four-bedroom suites that include two bathrooms, a living room, and a small kitchenette.
  • Amenities include all single occupancy bedrooms, fully furnished suites, high speed internet connections in each bedroom, wireless internet access, and all utilities (including local phone and cable) inclusive within rent.
  • Although the new residence hall complex will replace the capacities of Twin Towers and Delta Hall (recently razed), the new facility also will facilitate reconfiguration of the assignments process for students.
  •  The new residence hall complex will house both men and women who have completed at least one year of college.   First year college students will be assigned to Arkansas Hall, Kays Hall, and University Hall.  This change will better serve the needs of first-year students to make the transition to living on a college campus, as well as improving the overall academic success rate of our on-campus student population.
  • Although floors in the residential buildings may be coeducational, residents occupying the bedrooms in any suite must be the same gender.
  • The project is being funded through a $26,500,000 bond issue.  The bonds were jointly sold by Crews and Associates and Stephens, Inc.  The bonds will be paid with rent collected from students residing in the complex.
  • Local subcontractors and suppliers are: RGB Electrical, RGB Mechanical, Ditta Door, Holmes Tile, Meadows Construction, The Acoustical Group, R & G Masonry, Master Cabinet & Truss, Bartons, and Northeast Arkansas Glass.
  • Anticipated opening date: Fall 2006.
