Feb. 8, 2007  -- The Arkansas State University Counseling Center announced its Healthy Relationship Screening Day and "Love on the Rocks" lecture series.

According to Dr. Rafik S. Jacob of the Counseling Center, "It is a wonderful opportunity for students (and perhaps faculty and staff) to consider the health of their relationships, including those with friends, lovers, spouses and roommates."

The Healthy Relationship Screening Day will be held Wednesday, Feb. 14, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Counseling Center (Student Union, Room 2203). The screenings will provide tips on relationship enhancement.

Scott Burcham began the "Love on the Rocks" lecture series today with "Does difference make a difference?" He explored the differences in communication patterns based on gender in everyday conversation.

All lectures will be held in the Student Union Osage Room.

Lynda Nash will present "baggage check" Tuesday, Feb. 13, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Students can determine the signs of healthy and unhealthy relationships, and learn how to overcome wounding relationships.

Dr. Patricia Walls will present "self-esteem and relationships" Tuesday, Feb. 20 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. She will discuss self-realization, healthy needs, morbid dependency and the role of love.
