Feb. 9, 2005--The Arkansas State University Spirit Club and Student Activities Board (SAB) will host the 8th Annual Pride Day celebration on Thursday, Feb. 24, beginning at 9 a.m. and ending with an Indians basketball game at 7:05 p.m. To celebrate Pride Day, the campus will be decorated with ASU colors. Pride Day will kick off at 9 a.m. with the judging of the Office Decoration Contest. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., free ASU apparel will be handed out in the Student Union Center Court at Indian Pride Stations, sponsored by SAB and the Student Government Association (SGA). The Pride Day Awards Reception will be held in the Student Union Auditorium at 2 p.m. The proclamation from Governor Mike Huckabee declaring ASU Pride Day an official day of celebration will be read by SGA President Jake Hampton. The Princess, Indian Brave, and Chief Big Track awards will be presented along with the Lt. Colonel Barney Smith Award and the Outstanding Student Organization Awards. That evening students are encouraged to wear scarlet and black to the men’s basketball game against Louisiana-Lafayette.
