Annual Pride Day set for
Feb. 16 on campus

Feb. 7, 2006 -- The Spirit Club and the Student Activities Board (SAB) at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro will host the 9th annual Pride Day celebration Thursday, Feb. 16, on campus.

The campus will be adorned with the official ASU colors of scarlet and black, showing A-State Pride. The kick off will begin at 9 a.m. with the judging of the Office Decoration Contest.

Students will have the opportunity to pick up free ASU apparel from the Indian Pride Stations in the Student Union, sponsored by SAB and the Student Government Association (SGA) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Pride Day Awards Reception will be held in the Student Union Auditorium at 2 p.m. A proclamation from Gov. Mike Huckabee declaring ASU Pride Day, an official day of celebration, will be read by SGA President Candace Martin. The Princess, Indian Brave, and Chief Big Track awards will be presented along with the Lt. Colonel Barney Smith Award and the Outstanding Student Organization Awards.

Everyone attending the evening men’s basketball game is encouraged to wear red or scarlet and black and show A-State pride as the ASU Indians take on Middle Tennessee at 7:05 p.m. in the Convocation Center.
