Fowler Center to present Memphis Symphony Orchestra and choruses

The Fowler Center at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro will present the Memphis Symphony Orchestra in concert on Sunday, Oct. 22, at 3 p.m.

Robert Moody conducts the Memphis Symphony (click to access high res version)The Memphis Symphony returns under the baton of guest conductor Robert Moody with over 60 musicians. The symphony will be joined by the Campus Elementary Children’s Chorus and the Arkansas State University Chorus in presenting a salute to composer and former Boston Pops conductor John Williams and his contributions to the film industry.

Among the works planned for this concert are "Hymn to the Fallen" from "Saving Private Ryan" featuring the ASU Chorus; "Dry Your Tears, Afrika!" from "Amistad" and "Somewhere in My Memory," from "Home Alone," with the Children’s Chorus; "Star Wars: Suite," which will involve the ASU Chorus and Children’s Chorus; and "Theme from ‘Superman.’ "

When the symphony is joined by both choruses for certain numbers, close to 150 musicians will be on the Riceland Hall stage.

This presentation and the next in the Fowler Center Series, The Vienna Choir Boys on Sunday, Nov. 12, are two of the Riceland Distinguished Performances for 2006-07.

Individual tickets to the Memphis Symphony Orchestra performance are $30 and $20 for adults; $23 and $15 for students and senior citizens; and $10 and $6 for ASU students.

"Build your own season," includes tickets to any four events for $100 and $65 for adults, and $75 and $45 for senior citizens and students. ASU students may purchase "Build your own season" tickets for $30 and $20.
